Georgetown to Karumba

Michael woke to a flat tyre on his Patrol this morning (a screw in the tyre) so his first job after packing up was to find a tyre repairer in the small town of Georgetown.  We could of plugged the hole ourselves but figured a professional would be much quicker – we were wrong.  Eric, the tyre fitter would have to be the most thorough and pedantic tyre fitter in the country!

After fueling up and getting the tyre repaired we hit the road again stopping at the Croydon Information Centre which is a tourist attraction in itself.  Metal sculptures adorn the grounds and there was a couple of old Bedford trucks that look like they were operational.

After lunch at the local cafe we were on the road again heading for Karumba.  We arrived at a reasonable hour, set up camp at the Karumba Point Tourist Park, had showers (except Michael who went to try his luck with a bit of fishing) then headed down to the Sunset Tavern to watch the sunset over the gulf (Arafura Sea), have a drink and some dinner.  Jacob loved his spaghetti and meatballs and Graham & I both had a hot and cold seafood platter; it was delicious!
