Old Coach Road to Palmer River Roadhouse via Maytown Ruins

We aimed today to get packed up and on our way early. We did have some unplanned motivation in the form of smoke closing in on us which worried me a lot and Graham not so much. Graham fixed the front locker air line as we were sure to need it again and we still got away by 7.35am (which was a lot earlier than normal) to travel the final 34ish km of the Old Coach Road.

There was again plenty of challenging rocky hills but nothing that required getting the recovery gear out. We arrived at Maytown just after 1pm where we met up with John & Lorna then after some lunch and exploring what little is left of the Maytown ruins we hit the road again. The main road out of Maytown was a very steep and windy gravel road which was a little hard to take after the hours we had spent negotiating steep inclines and declines on the Old Coach Road. Tonight we are staying at the Palmer River Roadhouse. Have had a BBQ dinner and done some washing.
