In Longreach we visited the Qantas Founders Museum, it was getting late so we were able to organise a pass to come back the next day without paying the entry fee again. We also booked for their tour of a couple of planes.
That night we had dinner at the restaurant at the caravan park. It was lovely and we had some delicious food and splashed out on desert. While we were waiting on our food a storm came through with a little bit of rain which they desperately needed and a lot of wind – big wind. We could see campers everywhere holding down there awnings, some weren’t successful and had their awnings flying around out of control. Graham and Michael decided they better go check our camp. Our camper and awning were handling the wind well although Jacob’s change mat and clothes that were left in the annex blew away with the change mat never to be seen again (found the clothes under the cruiser). Michael and Julies tent on the other hand was turning inside out. Michael ended up moving his vehicle so he could tie it to it. There was a couple of girls who were camping in a little tent which didn’t handle the wind well; they ended up sleeping in their car.
The next day we went back to the Qantas Founders Museum, finished looking around and went on our tour. We then went to the Stockman’s Hall of Fame for the afternoon. Late afternoon we were picked up from the CP by a bus to go on the Drovers Sunset Tour which included a boat cruise down Thomson River then dinner and a live show on the bank of the river before heading back on the bus.
The next day we visited the Powerhouse Museum before hitting the road again.
