Five Rivers Lookout – Wyndam
Tue 28th
We left Lake Argyle; arrived in Kunnunara just before lunch. We didn’t hang around long, just picked up some supplies then headed to Wyndam to have a look at the five rivers lookout. Then we were on our way towards the famous Gibb River Road via the Karunjie Track (stock route). We almost made it all the way but were losing light fast so decided to camp on the banks of the Pentecoste hoping to see some salt water crocs. Our side of the river had steep banks so the boys assured us that the croc’s wouldn’t be able to get us.
Wed 29th
It wasn’t far from our camp site to the end of the track which came out on the eastern side of the Pentecoste River so we had a play there to get some photos. We then headed east to El Questro Station. After setting up the campers we had lunch in the restaurant. We then spent the afternoon driving the 4wd tracks to all the lookouts until sunset. From a lookout a guide pointed out a saltwater crocodile way below us and had everyone watching intently after telling us about a recent experience where they saw a crocodile take down a cow.
